Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has long been synonymous with the name ‘Prem’, a character he brought to life in as many as 15 films across his 37-year career. From Maine Pyar Kiya to Hum Aapke Hain Kaun and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, this name became a lucky charm for him, with most of these films turning into blockbusters.

However, the legacy of ‘Prem’ is now set to take a new turn. Rajshri Productions, the banner that first made Salman the eternal lover boy, has now chosen a new face to carry forward this name — Ayushmann Khurrana.

Sooraj Barjatya’s New Hero: Ayushmann Khurrana

Filmmaker Sooraj Barjatya and Salman Khan collaborated on four films, all featuring Salman as Prem. The director had even planned another film titled Prem Ki Shaadi with Salman. But after things didn’t work out, Sooraj decided to give the story a fresh twist and signed Ayushmann Khurrana instead.

According to sources, Sooraj has rewritten the script to align with today’s youth and Ayushmann’s age, while still keeping the essence of Rajshri’s signature storytelling — family, values, and emotions.

Ayushmann to Begin Shooting in October

Currently busy with Pati Patni Aur Woh 2, Ayushmann will move on to Prem Ki Shaadi in October, starting with its first schedule in Mumbai. To recreate the grand Rajshri cinematic world, three elaborate sets are already being prepared.

While the leading lady opposite Ayushmann hasn’t been finalized yet, expectations are already sky-high for this film that will introduce a new-age Prem to Bollywood.
