Bollywood actor John Abraham is increasingly drawn towards films inspired by real-life events. After impactful projects like Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran, Batla House, and The Diplomat, John is now set to dive into another real incident that made headlines worldwide. He is currently busy shooting the biopic of former Mumbai Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria, but reports confirm that his next project will be based on Operation Ganga, directed by The Diplomat filmmaker Shivam Nair.
What Was Operation Ganga?
Back in 2022, when the Russia–Ukraine war began, thousands of Indian students studying in Ukraine were stranded in the conflict zone. To rescue them, the Government of India launched Operation Ganga, a massive evacuation mission. Between February and March 2022, as per the Ministry of External Affairs, 18,282 Indian citizens were successfully brought back home via 90 flights. The mission is regarded as one of India’s largest and most successful rescue operations in recent history.
John Abraham’s Role in the Film
According to sources, John will not only play the lead role but will also produce the film. Pre-production work has already begun, and shooting is expected to start next year. With Shivam Nair at the helm, the movie promises to be another gripping tale of courage and patriotism.
John’s Line-up of Patriotic Films
This year alone, John has delivered two films rooted in real events and national pride — The Diplomat and Tehran. Both were released on Netflix, receiving appreciation from audiences. The Diplomat, in particular, performed well at the box office, strengthening John’s position as one of the finest actors in the patriotic-thriller genre.
With Operation Ganga, John Abraham is all set to add yet another chapter to his career that celebrates real stories of bravery, diplomacy, and national spirit.
