The much-awaited trailer of The Bengal Files has finally been unveiled on August 16 at a grand launch event in Kolkata. Directed by Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri, the film dives deep into the violent political history of West Bengal and promises to shake audiences with its emotional and hard-hitting narrative.
What is the Story About?
This time, Agnihotri sheds light on the tragic partition of Bengal, portraying the unheard stories of Hindu massacres on the big screen. Based on true events, the trailer showcases a chilling moment when a voice declares: “This is West Bengal, here two constitutions run—one for Hindus, one for Muslims.”
The film stars Mithun Chakraborty, Pallavi Joshi, Darshan Kumar, along with Anupam Kher, who will be seen in the powerful role of Mahatma Gandhi. Popular faces like Madalsa Sharma (of Anupamaa fame) and Simrat Kaur (of Gadar 2) also play significant characters in the movie.
Backed by Strong Names
The Bengal Files is written and directed by Vivek Agnihotri and jointly produced by Abhishek Agarwal, Pallavi Joshi, and Agnihotri himself. The film forms the third chapter in Agnihotri’s celebrated Files Trilogy, following The Tashkent Files and The Kashmir Files.
Vivek Agnihotri’s Strong Message
At the trailer launch, Agnihotri said:
“The Bengal Files is a wake-up call, a roar that we will not let Bengal turn into another Kashmir. We launched the trailer in Kolkata to ensure authenticity in portraying the untold story of Hindu genocide. If Kashmir shook you, Bengal will disturb you even more.”
When is it Releasing?
The trailer event, held at a city hotel, stirred huge controversy, with Agnihotri claiming that protests were “deliberately created.” Despite the uproar, the makers confirmed that The Bengal Files will hit the big screens on September 5, 2025.
