The much-awaited trailer of Ajay Devgan’s upcoming film ‘Son of Sardar 2’ has finally been released, and it’s already creating a stir across social media. Set to hit theatres worldwide on July 25, the film features a star-studded cast including Mrunal Thakur, Neeru Bajwa, Sahil Mehta, Sanjay Dutt, and Ravi Kishan. Adding a layer of emotion to the release, late actor Mukul Dev will be seen for the final time on the big screen in this film.
The original Son of Sardar, released back in 2012, was a box office success directed by Ashwini Dheer and was a remake of the Telugu film Maryada Ramanna. The new installment, being referred to as its spiritual sequel, is helmed by Vijay Kumar Arora. However, unlike the original, this time the makers did not adapt a South Indian hit, and the trailer seems to reflect that gap.
From the trailer, the film promises action, comedy, and drama, but unfortunately, the jokes appear outdated, the storyline seems off-track, and the overall vibe has left fans disappointed rather than entertained. Although it aims to tickle the funny bone, many are calling it a messy and absurd attempt at comedy.
Produced under the banners of Jio Studios, Devgan Films, and T-Series, the movie brings back Sanjay Dutt as the iconic Don, a role he played in the original. While Sonakshi Sinha was Ajay’s love interest in the 2012 film, this time the female leads have changed, and the character originally meant for Vijay Raaz will now be portrayed by Sanjay Mishra.
Even though the trailer may not have won over everyone, the emotional weight of Mukul Dev’s final on-screen presence ensures that Son of Sardar 2 remains a film to look out for – at least for one last goodbye.
