The inspiring life of Kashmir’s first playback singer and Padma Shri awardee Raj Begum is all set to reach audiences worldwide through the upcoming film “Songs of Paradise”, premiering on Prime Video on 29th August.

Produced under Excel Entertainment, Apple Tree Pictures, and Range Films, this cinematic tribute beautifully captures Raj Begum’s courageous journey, her soulful music, and her struggle for identity during a time when women were restricted by cultural and social barriers.

The film stars Saba Azad and Soni Razdan, who portray Raj Begum at two different stages of her life, along with an ensemble cast featuring Zain Khan Durrani, Sheeba Chaddha, Tarak Raina, and Lillete Dubey.

Directed and written by Danish Renju, “Songs of Paradise” not only highlights Raj Begum’s achievements but also explores themes of bravery, identity, and resilience against the breathtaking backdrop of Kashmir.

Speaking about the project, Renju said:

“This film is a heartfelt tribute to Raj Begum, the first woman to sing on Radio Kashmir. It tells the story of a woman who dared to dream when dreaming itself was a challenge. Saba Azad and Soni Razdan have brought her journey alive with immense depth and honesty. Thanks to Prime Video, viewers across the globe can now witness this story of music, courage, and heritage.”

With its poetic portrayal of Kashmir’s culture and the unforgettable voice of Raj Begum, “Songs of Paradise” promises to be more than just a film—it is a celebration of courage and the eternal power of music.
