The Indian box office witnessed an interesting clash this weekend as Nani’s The Paradise continued its theatrical run alongside the long-running Hanuman Ansh. While Nani’s period action drama has been attracting audiences since its September 24 release, the Hanuman-themed film has maintained an unusually strong run even after completing more than seven weeks in cinemas.
According to the latest available trade figures, The Paradise crossed the ₹100 crore mark in India gross during its fourth day, while Hanuman Ansh continued adding substantial numbers to its already impressive lifetime total.
The Paradise Records Strong Sunday Numbers
Directed by Srikanth Odela, The Paradise opened worldwide on September 24 and immediately created significant box-office momentum. The film stars Nani in the lead role, alongside Kayadu Lohar, Raghav Juyal, Mohan Babu and Sonali Kulkarni. The film reportedly became Nani’s biggest opener to date, crossing the ₹75 crore worldwide mark on its first day. Its India net collection on Day 1 was reported at ₹34.65 crore, while the worldwide gross was around ₹74.90 crore. After Day 2 and Day 3, the movie continued to add sizeable numbers. According to reported trade estimates, The Paradise collected ₹14.90 crore on Day 2 and ₹15.25 crore on Day 3 in India. Sunday brought another increase in audience activity.
As of the latest Sunday update, The Paradise had collected ₹13.08 crore net in India, taking its reported India gross to ₹105.93 crore and India net to ₹89.48 crore. These figures were still provisional, with the final Day 4 total yet to be reported. The film recorded reported occupancy of 35.08% in morning shows, 55.38% in afternoon shows and 52.54% in evening shows.
Telugu Market Remains the Major Contributor
The Telugu version continues to account for the largest share of The Paradise’s domestic earnings. The latest figures show the Telugu version contributing around ₹11.49 crore from 3,193 shows on Sunday so far. The Hindi version added approximately ₹1.41 crore, while the Tamil version contributed around ₹18 lakh. The numbers underline the importance of the Telugu market for the film, although its release across multiple languages has allowed it to reach audiences beyond its core territory.
What Is The Paradise About?
The Paradise is a period action drama set in the slums of 1980s Secunderabad. Nani plays Jadal, an intense character caught in a story involving a marginalised community, social discrimination and struggles over basic rights. The film reunites Nani with director Srikanth Odela after their previous collaboration, Dasara. The filmmaker has created a darker and more rugged world for the actor, with the movie leaning heavily on action, atmosphere and period production design. The cast also includes Mohan Babu, Raghav Juyal, Kayadu Lohar, Sonali Kulkarni and Sampoornesh Babu, while Keerthy Suresh is set to make a special appearance.
Hanuman Ansh Continues Its Remarkable Theatrical Run
While The Paradise is enjoying the advantage of being a new release, Hanuman Ansh is presenting a very different box-office story. The Vishal Chaturvedi-directed film released on August 7 and has remained in cinemas for more than seven weeks. By Day 52, the film had reportedly earned ₹303.26 crore net in India, with an India gross of ₹358.28 crore. Its overseas gross stood at approximately ₹37.75 crore, taking its reported worldwide gross to ₹389.85 crore. The film also recorded ₹6.50 crore net on Day 51 from 3,979 shows, demonstrating continued audience interest despite the arrival of newer releases.
The Paradise Brings Fresh Competition
The arrival of The Paradise has added another major title to the theatrical landscape. However, Hanuman Ansh has already demonstrated that its audience base can continue supporting the movie well beyond the normal theatrical window. Earlier reports showed Hanuman Ansh collecting ₹3.65 crore net in India on Day 49, even as The Paradise entered cinemas. At that stage, the devotional film’s India net total had reached ₹288.33 crore and its worldwide gross was around ₹377.05 crore. The latest figures indicate that the film subsequently crossed the ₹300 crore India-net milestone.
Two Very Different Box-Office Journeys
The contrast between the two films is particularly interesting.
The Paradise is a new theatrical release attempting to build momentum through its opening weekend. Its first four days have been driven by Nani’s star power, the film’s large-scale presentation and strong interest in the Telugu market.
Hanuman Ansh, meanwhile, is relying on sustained audience interest over an extended theatrical run. Its reported ₹303.26 crore India-net collection after 52 days represents a completely different box-office trajectory.
The two films also appeal to different audience segments, although there can naturally be some overlap during the weekend.

Mixed Response vs Strong Box-Office Numbers
One of the notable aspects of The Paradise‘s opening weekend is the gap between reported audience response and its commercial performance. Several reports have described the film’s reception as mixed, yet its theatrical numbers have remained substantial. The film’s opening itself was strong enough to become Nani’s biggest reported opener, while its India gross crossed ₹100 crore during Day 4. This suggests that pre-release anticipation and opening-weekend curiosity have translated into significant theatrical footfall, although the film’s longer-term performance will depend on how well collections hold after the opening weekend.
Can The Paradise Cross ₹100 Crore India Net?
The film’s reported India net collection stood at ₹89.48 crore by the latest Sunday update, meaning it was approaching the ₹100 crore India-net milestone. However, the final Day 4 figures were not yet available at the time of the latest report. With the film already crossing ₹100 crore in India gross, the next major benchmark is whether it can convert its strong opening into a sustained second-week run.
Box Office Battle Continues
The current weekend has created an unusual situation at the Indian box office. Nani’s The Paradise is using the momentum of a fresh theatrical release, while Hanuman Ansh is continuing to generate collections deep into its theatrical journey. The latest figures show that both films are attracting audiences for very different reasons. The Paradise has delivered a strong opening and crossed ₹100 crore India gross during its fourth day, while Hanuman Ansh has moved beyond ₹300 crore India net after more than 50 days. With the final Sunday figures still subject to updates, the coming weekdays will provide a clearer picture of how strongly The Paradise can maintain its momentum and how long Hanuman Ansh can continue its extended theatrical run.
