Kapil Sharma’s comedy show has ruled television for years and remains one of the most loved programs across households. While audiences at home enjoy the laughter riot, a common question has always intrigued fans—how can one become part of the live audience inside the studio? After watching the roaring applause and laughter on TV, many people dream of sitting right there, clapping at Kapil’s witty punchlines. But do you really need to purchase tickets for that, or is there another way? Recently, comedian and actor Vikalp Mehta, who has performed with Kapil both on his show and during his US tour, disclosed the truth.

Vikalp Mehta Breaks the Silence

In a candid chat on the YTMahendra podcast, Vikalp Mehta revealed some behind-the-scenes secrets. Having participated in several episodes, he clarified that Kapil’s show is recorded almost like a live drama. Unlike other shoots with endless retakes, this one usually runs smoothly, with only a few short breaks in between. Sometimes these breaks last about fifteen minutes, and a lunch break may extend to a full hour.

No Ticket Sales—It’s All a Scam

Addressing the biggest question, Vikalp made it crystal clear—there is no ticket system. If anyone claims you can pay ₹500 or ₹1000 to sit in the audience, it’s nothing but a scam. The production team never sells tickets or calls in viewers that way.

How Is the Audience Filled Then?

If tickets aren’t sold, how does the studio fill up? According to Vikalp, a significant portion of the audience consists of paid junior artists. These individuals spend the entire day on set, laughing and clapping energetically as part of their job. Not only are they compensated for this, but the team also arranges their meals and refreshments.

Reserved Seats for Guests

But it’s not just junior artists who make up the crowd. Around 20% of the seats are reserved for guests. Celebrities who come on the show are allowed to bring along friends or relatives, who then join as part of the live audience—again, without paying any fee.

The Reality May Shock Fans

With these revelations, it’s now clear that ordinary viewers cannot directly buy their way into The Kapil Sharma Show audience. To maintain the energy and charm on screen, most of the seats are strategically filled by the show’s team, while a select few go to celebrity guests.
