Yash Raj Films’ much-awaited action spectacle Alpha, starring Alia Bhatt, will now arrive in cinemas on April 17, 2026, instead of its earlier 2025 release. The production house confirmed that the film’s extensive VFX work needs additional time to ensure the movie reaches audiences in its most visually stunning form.
This high-octane entertainer features Alia Bhatt and Sharvari in powerful lead roles, with Bobby Deol and Anil Kapoor in pivotal characters. Marking Alia Bhatt’s first collaboration with YRF, the film also introduces her in a bold new action-packed avatar. Notably, Alpha is the first all-women-led action film in the YRF Spy Universe, where Alia and Sharvari take on Bobby Deol in a fierce and thrilling battle.

A spokesperson from YRF shared,
“Alpha is very special to us. We want to offer audiences the best cinematic experience possible. The VFX is more demanding than we initially estimated, and we don’t want to compromise on quality. That’s why we’ve moved the release to April 17, 2026.”
Industry experts agree that the decision was made purely to perfect the film’s visual effects, not because of a packed release calendar. The team was facing tight deadlines, and with a considerable amount of VFX work still pending, postponing the release became inevitable.
With high-stakes action, a unique storyline, and a groundbreaking female-led spy thriller, Alpha promises to be an unforgettable cinematic experience — one that’s worth the wait.
