Nandamuri Balakrishna’s much-hyped film ‘Akhanda 2’ has completed seven days at the box office, and the early momentum seems to be fading fast. While the film opened to strong numbers, its daily earnings have seen a steady decline over the past week. Among Hindi-speaking audiences, the Telugu action drama has failed to make an impact, not even crossing the ₹1 crore mark, largely due to the presence of alternative content like Dhruva.
On its seventh day, Akhanda 2 recorded its lowest collection so far, and this slowdown has occurred even before the release of James Cameron’s ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’. Trade analysts believe the situation could worsen significantly once the Hollywood spectacle hits theatres, making budget recovery an uphill task for the film.
‘Akhanda 2’ Box Office Collection Breakdown
The film began its theatrical run with an impressive ₹8 crore from paid previews, followed by ₹22.5 crore on opening day. However, collections dropped sharply thereafter:
- Day 2: ₹15.5 crore
- Day 3: ₹15.1 crore
- Day 4: ₹5.25 crore
- Day 5: ₹4.25 crore
- Day 6: ₹3.3 crore
- Day 7 (till 10:25 AM): ₹2.50 crore
So far, the film’s total domestic collection stands at ₹76.40 crore. It should be noted that Sacnilk’s Day 7 figures are not final and may change.
Budget vs Worldwide Earnings
As per Filmibeat, Akhanda 2 has been made on a massive budget of ₹120 crore. Meanwhile, Sacnilk reports that the film has earned ₹99 crore worldwide in six days, indicating that it is yet to recover its production cost.
‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ Likely to Hit ‘Akhanda 2’ Hard
Avatar: Fire and Ash is being touted as one of the biggest Hollywood releases of the year. According to a Pinkvilla report, the film is expected to open at around ₹22 crore in India on day one itself. With Akhanda 2 already witnessing declining numbers, the arrival of James Cameron’s blockbuster could further dent its box office prospects, posing a serious challenge for Nandamuri Balakrishna’s film in the coming days.
