Hollywood’s monster-thriller films have always sparked excitement, and the mere mention of Anaconda is enough to remind fans of nail-biting suspense, fear, and larger-than-life creatures. Riding on this nostalgia, the latest giant-snake thriller created a strong buzz on social media before its release. Expectations were high, and fans eagerly waited to witness the terror unfold on the big screen. However, once the film hit theatres, the excitement failed to translate into box office success.

Box Office Story: From Buzz to Bust

According to Sacnilk, the film opened with a modest ₹1.6 crore on Day 1. But the momentum didn’t last long. On the second day, collections dropped sharply to ₹0.8 crore. The weekend offered brief relief, with Saturday and Sunday earning around ₹1.05 crore each. Unfortunately, the weekdays told a different story.

From Monday onwards, theatre footfall declined rapidly. Both Monday and Tuesday saw collections stagnate at ₹0.45 crore. The biggest shock came on Day 7, Wednesday, when the film managed to collect only ₹0.25 crore. This drastic fall made it clear that positive word-of-mouth was missing, and audience interest continued to fade with each passing day. In short, the “world’s biggest snake” ended up earning like a tiny insect.

First-Week Total and Audience Response

By the end of its first week, the film’s total box office collection stood at just ₹5.65 crore. Among all versions, the English release performed relatively better, while the Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu versions failed to make an impact. Despite its large budget, grand scale, and thrilling concept, the film struggled to impress viewers.

Trade analysts and critics point to a weak storyline, average visual effects, and a dated treatment of the concept as the main reasons behind the film’s poor performance. What was expected to be a gripping monster spectacle ultimately turned out to be a missed opportunity at the box office.
