Pakistani actress Mawra Hocane has officially been removed from the cast of Sanam Teri Kasam 2 following strong public sentiments and a warning by lead actor Harshvardhan Rane. The decision comes in the wake of Pakistan-sponsored terrorist attacks in Pahalgam and the noticeable silence of some Pakistani artists working in India.

Directors Confirm Decision

Filmmakers Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru issued a firm statement confirming Hocane’s exclusion. They expressed disappointment over the lack of response from certain Pakistani actors toward the tragic incident.

“Terrorism must be condemned without hesitation. It’s disheartening that artists who received immense love and opportunities from India have stayed silent. Their lack of condemnation is wrong and cannot be ignored,” the directors said.

They emphasized their unwavering support for India and its armed forces, stating, “Our country always comes first.”

Harshvardhan Rane Takes a Stand

Earlier, actor Harshvardhan Rane had posted a powerful message on Instagram, making it clear that he would not participate in the sequel if any Pakistani artists were involved.

“I am thankful for the opportunity, but in light of the current situation and the hurtful comments about India, I cannot be a part of Sanam Teri Kasam 2 if the previous cast returns,” Rane wrote.

From Flop to Hit

Originally released in 2016, Sanam Teri Kasam saw a resurgence in popularity after its re-release on 7 February 2025, eventually earning over Rs 30 crore at the box office. What started as a box-office underperformer has now gained cult status — but the sequel is already generating headlines for reasons beyond its storyline.
